Sale-In Memory Of Sammi

November 30th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Mindset · Fat Loss Workouts

I’m trying to pull some positive out of todays experience of having to put our cat Sammi to sleep. His life was cut short before he even made it to his 3rd birthday. He truly was our 3rd child. He was more human than cat and he touched our lives deeply. It is my wish to touch lives as deeply as Sammi has ours. To pay tribute to Sammi, I’ve created a short video of some of his outrageous cat tricks, and to pull some positive out of today’s experience I’m going to hold a “In Memory Of Sammi Sale”. I’m reducing each of my three products prices to $27 Until December 3rd at 12pm EST.

In the short clip below you will see Sammi the cat play fetch with a mouse, leap up in the air for a mouse, spin in circles after a laser light, and many other adorable things. Thank you for taking the time in sharing some very special moments that are very near and dear to the hearts of my family…

I have never held a sale for my products and I’m pretty sure that I never will again. I’m very emotional at the moment and just feel like doing something to take my mind off of the pain and loss that I’m feeling at the moment.
Unstoppable Fat Loss Sale

Visit the links below to get any of my products for $27 each…

The sales buttons still say $47, but the price that you will pay is $27.

I was going to be making a special announcement next week, but now feels like the time to share some exciting news with you.

I’ve been busy revising my products. I’ve added a full extra year of workouts to The Fit Chic program that take 10 minutes or less each. They are very quick and intense and can be done in the comfort of your home.

I am just about done doing the exact same thing to The Fit Bastard program. As well I am in the process of creating a great take action book for all the Unstoppable Fat Loss audios to help people make the most out of the experience.

I’ve also created support communities for each of these products. So now all of you can share your experiences on the program, support each other, celebrate successes together and more.

Plus I’ve uploaded videos of many of the workouts in The Fit Chic community and will be adding more, as well as doing the same for The Fit Bastard. Unstoppable Fat Loss also has videos included in the community and I will be adding other great bonuses in there too.

And the last bonus for purchasing my products is the option to have me create a personal blog for you to document your journey to fat loss success and hold yourself accountable along the way. Plus you will be able to receive support on your blog from people outside of the individual support communities.

I will be monitoring all of these to ensure that you succeed on my programs. I’m willing to go above and beyond in order to make your experience with my programs the absolute best that they could possibly be.

I just want you to know that I’m here for you every step of the way.

But enough about the salesy type stuff. I would like to share a few more photos of our amazing cat that touched our family so deep.

This is a picture of Noelle and Sammi. These two were inseparable. Best buds. Sammi was such a big part of Noelle’s life and always will be. They shared many laughs daily and he was so darn patient with her.
The Fit Chic Sale

This is a great shot of Shayne and Sammi. Shayne was always asking us to take his picture with Sammi. Shayne always got a kick out of seeing Sammi do wild and crazy tricks.
Unstoppable Fat Loss Sale

Last but not least, this was Sammi dressed as a clown on Halloween. Did I mention how patient he was. If only you could see all the pictures that we have of Noelle playing dress up with him.
Fit Bastard Sale

Sammi you are in our hearts forever. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

And thank you for allowing me to share this moment with YOU.

Cherish each and every moment that you have on this planet and cherish those around you.

Have an absolutely amazing day!

High Intensity Interval Training For Fat Loss

November 26th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Workout Products

High Intensity Interval Training is incredibly effective for fat loss and just as important… it’s fun! In the video below you will see how I incorporate a variety of exercises into my HIIT sessions. The time totally flies by and I’m way more winded at the end of the training session than I ever am during long duration cardio.
The Fit Bastard
I warmed up on the bike for 3 minutes then dove right into this intense session…

10 Burpees
30 seconds light marching
30 Jumping Jacks
30 seconds light marching
60 Skips with the rope
30 seconds light marching
30 Mountain Climbers each leg
30 seconds light marching
30 seconds at high intensity on the stationary bike
30 seconds light marching
30 seconds climbing a flight of stairs
30 seconds light marching
Repeat the entire cycle… total 12 minutes

2 minute cool down on the stationary bike… total cardio session = 17 minutes

Check out the video to see exactly how it’s done and how intense it is!

I incorporate both HIIT plus long duration cardio into my program. Both are effective in their own way and I enjoy them both. But if you are totally pressed for time and you can’t stand traditional cardio, you will absolutely love this high intensity interval training.

Does The Every Other Day Diet Work?

November 16th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition · Product Reviews

In my opinion actions speak louder than words. It’s easy for people to say that a diet program is effective, but I like to actually see the results before I believe it. This is what my wife Angie and I are doing for you. We are applying the teachings of The Every Other Day Diet Plan and documenting our journey each and every day. Rather than having us tell you how totally awesome the program is, we want to prove it to you by sharing and showing our results. So just how effective is the Every Other Day Diet Plan?
The Every Other Day Diet
Both Angie and I have to invest in belts and new cloths because our pants are literally falling off of us. I’ve obliterated 10 pounds of fat from my body in the first month and Angie’s abs are starting to very cut.

Here’s some photos…

Angie after 4 weeks on the program… the abs are starting to pop out
Every Other Day Diet

Angie and I have put together a video discussing how we’ve optimized the program as well as why Angie hates dieting. We hope that you enjoy it.

The impressive thing is that we really don’t have a lot of weight to lose to begin with. My point is that when you are already pretty lean it is often much more difficult to burn those last remaining 10-20 pounds from your body than it would be for someone who has to burn 100 pounds of fat from their body.

Scott’s embarrassing before picture :( I really didn’t want to post this up because I was ashamed that I temporarily let my business life consume me and my body fell apart.
Every Other Day Diet

The best thing about the Every Other Day Diet Plan is that I’m burning pretty darn close to 100% fat as opposed to most diet plans where you would lose mostly water weight and muscle in the first few weeks. I’ve been monitoring this very carefully and I take multiple measurements with calipers and my very expensive bio-electrical-impedance scale. Many times I just give my head a shake when I see the results.

Jon Benson and Janis Hauser have done a tremendous job of creating a diet program that will fit into anyone’s lifestyle. Angie and I give 100% praise to The Every Other Day Diet Plan and recommend it for everyone. But hey, don’t just go based on what we say. Go by our results. Realize that we are no different from you. If we can do it so can you.

Scott after 4 weeks on the program and over 10 pounds of fat loss
Every Other Day Diet

Look for our updated pictures every Friday. This is our commitment to you. And we will give updated videos as well.

Thank you for sharing in this journey with us. We hope that it has a positive impact on your body and your life.

If you haven’t listened to the interview that I did with Jon covering some very important information on why most diets actually make you fat and why managing your stress and applying a stress free way of eating is crucial to your hormone balance and your ability to burn fat then you must take some time to listen by following this link:

Sweet Potato Meal Ideas

November 12th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition

Sweet Potatoes are one of my favorite foods to eat. I pretty much eat them daily. Combined with a lean protein they make a perfect pre and post workout meal. It’s a myth that potatoes will make you fat. I’ve shed a lot of fat while eating many-a-sweet potato. Because I eat them so much I need a lot of variety in how I prepare them. Today I would like to show you 2 ways that I prepare sweet potatoes and turn them into a yummy healthy meal…

First let me show you the sweet potato French Fries. This puppies are deeeelicious. Actually, they taste like candy so you have to be careful not to eat too many. They are very calorie dense so a serving the size of your hand is more than enough.

I chop the sweet potato into thin strips. Then I place 2 table spoons of cold pressed extra virgin olive oil in a zip lock baggy with some ground pepper and thyme. I then place the sweet potatoes in the bag and mix them up.

After that I place them on a cookie sheet and bake them for 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until they are soft and a little crispy on the edges.

The next way that I like to prepare sweet potatoes is to mash them. I usually steam 2 sweet potatoes with one white potato. Sometimes I will add a large carrot instead of the white potato and sometimes I just use sweet potatoes.

After steaming them until they are nice and soft, I place them in a pot with a little bit (1/3 cup) 1% milk, some ground black pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Mash that all up and you have a tasty meal when added with a lean protein.

I hope that you enjoy these simple, healthy, and tasty meal ideas. I look forward to sharing many more with you.

Have a totally awesome day!

Being Fat Is Healthy

November 7th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Mindset · Fat Loss Motivation · Fat Loss Nutrition · Fat Loss Workouts

Living with 20 to 25 pounds of excess weight is good for your health and prevents disease is what the media is reporting in regards to a new study conducted by scientists from the U.S. Centers For Disease Control And Prevention which is published in this weeks Journal Of The American Medical Association. I guess as a personal trainer I should change my approach and bring my clients to the local donut shop and fast food joint instead of forcing them to workout and eat healthy foods. Last week I did a blog post about how carrying excess fat increases your risk of cancer. Are you confused yet??? Could you truly be healthier with 25 extra pounds on your body?
The Fit Bastard
Are you frickin kidding me? Who in their right mind would publish this crap? What were the intentions of these people conducting this study? Do they truly have your best interests at heart or are they just trying to create controversy because they know they will get serious media attention. Or maybe they have shares in the drug companies who make the pills that you need to be on because of your weight problems.

There’s a serious problem that mass media is inflicting on our health and society. They see this controversial study and they know if they publish an article on it, and even twist the truth a bit, throw in a catchy headline, people will purchase their publication because they want to be able to justify that their weight problem is not really a problem. I know 4 people who don’t typically by the local newspaper, and they bought it today because that headline on the front page caught their attention.

As soon as I walked into a personal training clients house this morning she showed me this article. And she started justifying why it was healthy for her to be overweight. She started saying how when she was skinny she always got sick and was miserable. It wasn’t being skinny that was making her sick, it was the fact that she was starving herself to be that skinny, she was eating crap and not getting the nutrients that she needs, she wasn’t active, and she was stressed.

Being skinny does not necessarily mean that you are healthy. And this client certainly couldn’t compare her health when she was skinny to the health of my wife and I with our lean and healthy bodies. First of all she may have been skinny, but her body fat percentage was high. This is what is frequently being termed as “The Skinny-Fat Person.”

Recently I’ve burned off 10 pounds of ugly unwanted fat from my body by following the Every Other Day Diet Plan and doing the fat burning workouts from The Fit Bastard Year Of Workouts. My wife Angie has been experiencing the same amazing results as I have, although she’s following the fat burning workouts from The Fit Chic Year Of Workouts which is geared to women.

We have never felt better. Obliterating that fat from our body has made an obvious difference in so many areas of our lives. But it’s not just the fat loss that is making us feel so great. It’s the fuel that we are putting into our bodies and the activities that we are doing to energize us. Our energy is absolutely through the roof.

When I had that 10 extra pounds of fat on my body I was exhausted, sluggish, self conscious, and felt very uncomfortable.

So how do scientists justify that being overweight is somehow healthy? They somehow came up with a study shows that people who are overweight have a decreased risk of dying prematurely from bronchitis, emphysema, pneumonia, tuberculosis, blood poisoning, Alzheimer, Parkinson, suicide, and falls. They go onto say that scientists haven’t actually analyzed each individual disease.

Here’s the thing. They say the exceptions to their claims are diabetes and kidney disease which just so happen to be the 2 fastest growing diseases.

Why are Diabetes and kidney disease growing rapidly…. Hmmm… maybe because our population is rapidly becoming obese?

There was one observation from the article that I read in today’s Windsor Star which was interpreted correctly. Dr. Arya Sharma, the scientific director of the Canadian Obesity Network commented “What matters more than the total amount of fat, is where that fat is located.” Sharma says that the problems are more related to abdominal obesity.

I’ve been writing articles about this for years. Even more important than abdominal obesity is whether the fat is stored just under the surface of the skin or beneath the abdominal muscles and around your organs. The later is much more dangerous and is obvious in men who have the big tight ‘beer guts’ that make them look pregnant. Men who are flabby have a reduced risk compared to the other group.

Here’s a problem that I have with one of Sharma’s comments. He says, “If you’re eating a healthy diet and you’re physically active and you have no problems related to that excess weight, well then don’t worry about it.”

My problem with this is what I hear people say is a healthy diet is way off the frickin mark. What many people believe to be a physically active lifestyle is also off the mark.

Lets face it, people are not living active and they are eating like crap. The people who are overweight are overweight for a reason and in most cases it’s because they are not eating a healthy diet.

Please don’t interpret this as being judging against people who are overweight. I’m here to help you and am not trying to put you down. I’m just really upset at the doctors who are trying to justify that it’s healthy to be overweight. And these are the doctors that are pumping you full of drugs and saying that it’s going to help you.

Bu!! $hit!

This has me so fired up because I in fact do care about you and it pisses me off to see people take advantage of you and are going out of their way to confuse the heck out of you.

I have been fortunate enough to witness an incredible amount of body and health transformations. I interviewed several people who have undergone serious transformations and overcome some incredible obstacles in my audio product Unstoppable Fat Loss. How this impacts these peoples lives, words can not express. To say that they are not any better off than someone who is 20 to 25 pounds overweight and that they are actually at an increased risk of dying prematurely is gross negligence in my opinion.

I guarantee your quality and quantity of life will be greater when you maintain a lower and healthy body fat percentage, live actively, and eat natural foods. Your entire life will improve in more ways than you could ever imagine.

Our perception of what is healthy is becoming very skewed. I actually had someone ask me if I was sick this week because I had been burning body fat for the past 3 weeks. I have not looked and felt this great in years. And guess who was asking me this question? Someone who is about 80 to 100 pounds overweight.

A little while ago a couple that I workout came back from a cruise and they told me that they were actually in better shape then they thought. Why was this I asked? They said it was because they were surrounded by so many people that were carrying more fat then they were.

I had to remind them of why they started training with me. I told them that you came to me wanting to burn off 15 to 20 pounds of fat from your body because right now you are feeling sluggish, uncomfortable, and you want to become healthier. Does all this change simply because the large majority of the world is abusing their bodies. Do we conform to this lifestyle?

No way man!

I’ve even heard of little kids being teased because they were lean. Things are getting out of hand. Instead of trying to find ways to justify why being overweight, eating chocolate, and drinking alcohol are good for your health, how about we do something that we know with absolute certainty is great for your health…

Drink lots of water, eat natural foods, avoid the man made crap or at least consume it in moderation, exercise regularly while actually pushing yourself and not just going through the motions, get adequate sleep, reduce stress, and enjoy life.

The answers are simple. It may not be easy to implement at first, but when you find that driving force and reason to adopt this lifestyle you will be UNSTOPPABLE!

Life totally rocks when you begin to live like this. It’s the life that you deserve. Go after the body and life that you desire. Don’t just give into what these scientists have to say and settle for a life where you never reach your full potential.

I want that life for you. I want you to be the best that you can be. This rant has come about because I care for you and want you to experience a life full of opportunities and excitement which come from optimal health.

You know deep down that being 25 pounds overweight is not optimal health. Go for what you want and don’t let anyone hold you back. You ROCK and nothing should hold you back from your dreams.

Live your best life possible and make today an absolutely fan-frickin-tastic day!

Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan Journal-Day 18

November 5th, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition

Bye Bye LOVE HANDLES! Yesterday I mentioned how much I’ve enjoyed seeing my leaner body in the mirror after following the Every Other Day Diet Plan for a few weeks now. Well I’m even more excited today because I took special notice of my love handles disappearing before my eyes and even more definition in my abs. I’ve also taken notice of the increased definition in my arms and shoulders.
The Fit Bastard
I’ve got to show you a picture of myself one year ago and compare the definition of my arms and shoulders. I was more bulky and rounded. Now I’m getting cut and defined. What a difference! I’ll post that picture along with my most recent one real soon. I’m so excited for that.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been experiencing such great results that I have been cheating on the meals every few days. Today I caved in and had some chocolate fudge crackle ice cream. I enjoyed every second of that. Basically it seems like I’m following the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan rather than the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan. On the Lifestyle Plan you have a feed day after 2 days of eating healthy natural foods and lower calories. The Primer Plan allows the every other day feeding.

So I’ve got to make an important decision. If I’m going to continue to try and follow the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan, which I know I can follow and have no problem with it, or to go with the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan which I’ve kind of been following and have experienced great success.
The Every Other Day Diet
Right now my inclination is to put in a serious honest effort on the Every Other Day Diet Extreme Plan for the next week to see how I feel and what the results are like. After that time, if I feel like I want to go to the Every Other Day Diet Lifestyle Plan, I would be happy with that decision.

This is the really cool thing about the Every Other Day Diet. There are 3 different plans that can fit into anyones lifestyle. If this was a typical diet that only had 1 option and I found that I couldn’t stick to it, chances are I would probably scrap the entire plan all together.

I don’t feel like I’ve failed at all on the Extreme Plan because I look at the Lifestyle Plan and say, “Hey I would be kickin some serious butt if I was following this level of the program! And I am.”

If I can indulge in ice cream, chocolate bars, pizza, and other not so healthy things and still lose nearly 10 pounds of fat in 3 weeks, so can you. Doesn’t it sound easy? Honestly I’m floored at how my body has utilized stored fat as fuel and given me the energy and body that I deserve. Plus I can enjoy some of my treats when I want, even though I really don’t crave them anymore. It’s nice to not feel guilty about eating these things. I hate feeling restricted.

Today was a total day off from working out and cardio. It’s so nice to rest your body and let it rebuild itself. That’s when the magic happens.

If you would like to follow my entire journey on the Every Other Day Diet Plan head on over to my blog:

Excess Body Fat Increases Cancer Risk

November 2nd, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition

The largest most in-depth study on the relationship of diet, physical activity and weight management to cancer risk has been conducted by the American Institute of Cancer Research and its international affiliate, World Cancer Research Fund-UK. This 5 year process concluded with a 517 page report based on thousands of studies and includes hundreds of experts from around the world. The evidence linking excess weight with increase risks of cancer is without a doubt stronger than ever before and more convincing than ever.

I’m just getting into the report myself and it’s enough to make me want to do everything that I possibly can to achieve an optimal body fat percentage.

You can learn more about the report at the American Institute of Cancer Research website here: http://www.aicr.org/site/PageServer?pagename=res_report_second

The thing that really gets me is that we know that cancer can be prevented through our actions and behaviours in many cases. There are environmental issues and genetic factors that we can’t necessarily control, but in many many cases the factors which cause cancer are largely in our control. Yet most people choose to ignore this and continue to do the things which are cutting their quality of life and their life span short.

10 years ago when I began my personal training career I asked people why they wanted to start working out. Most of them gave me a lofty answer of, “I want to be more fit.” Some of them said, “I want to be healthier so I don’t die young.”

Today the fear of death is not enough to drive someone to workout or eat healthy natural foods. This completely boggles my mind. You know that you are going to die young, yet you insist on continuing to eat crap and watch television instead of getting active and eating well.

Is it because people want instant results and living a longer high quality life is not a form of instant gratification?

Is that temporary satisfaction more important than living to see your children get married, have kids, and you being healthy enough to play with them?

If suffering through life and dieing young is not enough to scare you into losing body fat, what is?

Was this incredibly convincing and detailed report really done in vein because the large majority of people will choose to brush it off, ignore it, and live with the consequences of their years of abuse to their body?

It’s time to take some personal responsibility here. Stop blaming fast food joints, late night food commercials, processed foods bombarding the grocery store shelves, lack of time, lack of energy, or anything else for that matter. Your health and quality of life is for the most part in your control. What are you going to do about it?

You deserve a high quality long life that you can enjoy. You can choose to have this. Or you can choose suffering and early death.

As I get through this 517 page report and the convincing evidence that increased body fat results in increased risk of many forms of cancer such as colorectum, oesophagus (adenocarcinoma), endometrium, pancreas, kidney, and breast (postmenopause), I will inform you on the discoveries that I come across and that you can benefit from. Research is even showing that excess body fat is a probable cause of cancer of the gallbladder as well.

So now my question to you is… What are you going to do in order to prevent a premature death and suffering through a low quality of life?

I ask you to please take the positives from this post and realize that much of this is in your control. You can choose to live a longer and better quality of life. You can do whatever it takes to prevent cancer.

Live the healthy lifestyle and have a totally awesome day!

Even Small Amounts Of Alcohol Is Unhealthy

November 2nd, 2007
· Filed Under: Fat Loss Nutrition

I’ve been saying this to people for years now. The recommendation of 1 to 2 glasses of alcohol is not good for your health. It’s a toxin that you are polluting your body with. Finally extensive research has shown that you increase your risk of cancer when you consume even small amounts of alcohol.

It always drove me nuts to hear people justify their alcohol consumption by saying that it’s good for their heart and health. If you want to improve your health, get your butt out and exercise as well as consume natural unprocessed foods and drink lots of water.

This research was conducted by the American Institute for Cancer Research and the World Cancer Research Fund. It found convincing evidence that alcohol consumption is linked to cancer of the mouth, pharynx, larynx and esophagus. It is also implicated in colorectal cancer among men and pre- and post-menopausal cancer in women.

I beg you to stop looking for research that justifies the toxins and junk that you are polluting your body with and follow the logical plan of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

Yes some things in moderation are fine. And yes a couple times each year I will have some alcohol. The problem comes when people are consuming it every single day with their dinner and thinking that they are doing something good for themselves.

The full report is over 500 pages and I will let you know all the details when I finish reading it. I do know this for sure. It’s one of the most in depth studies that I’ve seen. I’m not usually a big fan of studies and statistics because I see how they can be manipulated, but this research is very convincing.

If you want to improve your health, drink some water with your dinner instead of that bottle of wine. Honestly I’ve seen dramatic results in my clients when they do reduce or eliminate alcohol from their daily dinner.

There are many issues associated with consuming this toxin. The main ones are decrease in testosterone… (that’s bad for both men and women), increased appetite, your body stops burning fat and stores everything recently eaten and what you are currently eating until the toxin is eliminated from your body… and much more. Plus it contains calories itself. I personally would much rather get my calories from food that satisfies me.

You don’t have to eliminate alcohol from your diet all at once, but I do recommend that you begin cutting back.

Have a super healthy and incredible day!
